The accident begins. You begin with the first stroke. Have you tried watercolors on paper? Have you taken an art class in school? You don't need to, but you can.

Have a palette.

Have canvas or paper.
Have brushes.
Have water jars.

Start simply, if you would like.
Your canvas can be painted over with gesso, a primer, if you improve and would like to start fresh.
A table easel or floor easel is good to put your canvas on or, with backing, paper.
Put cover down on the carpet so it protects from drips. A flat sheet is fine. Another flat sheet goes over your dry canvas to store it. The table should be available for drips stains. Fun from paint.
