The 2nd law of thermodynamics says there is no perpetual energy machine. There is a perpetual energy machine in nature. When it rains into a pond, the water evaporates; and it goes into the clouds and then rains as water into the pond again. It is a perpetual energy machine. The same amount of water has been used the whole time. No water has been lost. The same energy has been used to evaporate the water, collect the water, and rain the water. No energy has been lost. There is a limited amount of energy in the universe with the universe being closed. The same energy is continually used. The Sun uses hydrogen as a fuel and it fuses with nuclear fusion in the core of the Sun. The energy is released from the Sun and none of the energy is lost. Lots of the energy comes to Earth and is used on Earth and the rest of the energy keeps traveling through space from one star to another star to another star. The same energy is used each time. If you grow a plant, when it dies the growth decays and it is fertilizer. The fertilizer can grow another plant. The limited amount of energy is used repeatedly.
My Philosophy teacher, Mr. Jobin, said, “If you take the length to the door and take half of that length, and then take half of that length, and continue to take half of the length you will never reach the door.”1 It goes on for infinity. Dimensionless points go on for infinity. You have dimensionless points between your feet and you can use them to cross infinity. You can use the dimensionless points infinity between your feet to cross the infinity to the door. You can walk to the door. You can step through the door. You will reach the door. You will get there.
